Virginia Tech at Virginia is the Champs Sports Bowl Game Of The Week
After 12 weeks, the ACC Coastal division championship has come down to one game. Virginia and Virginia Tech square off this weekend for the right to play for the ACC title and a BCS bowl-berth. The Hokies hold the edge with only one conference loss, but the Cavaliers would own the tiebreaker with a win at home on Saturday. Tech hasn’t lost to its rival from Charlottesville in eight years and has only dropped one game to the Cavs since 1998.

Open Audition Commences for Bowl Games Public Address Announcer

For 30 years, Florida Citrus Sports and its bowl games have been blessed with the golden pipes of Bob Matheison handling the public address announcing duties. After three decades, Matheison has announced that he is retiring from the booth and turning over the reins to someone else. In the spirit of competition, FCSports has decided to open up to the public the audition to fill Matheison’s shoes.

An intriguing weekend across the Big East and ACC starts early with a pair of Friday night games with Champs Sports Bowl implications. All three of the conference leaders in the Big East - Cincinnati, Rutgers and West Virginia - all hit the road this week against league opponents. Tonight, the Scarlet Knights travel to Louisville and the Mountaineers visit Syracuse. Tomorrow afternoon, the Bearcats are in Tampa to meet USF. If all three maintain their unblemished conference records, we may not know our Big East options until later in the season when the three teams play each other. However, it's possible that one might stumble on this "road test weekend" and help narrow our possibilities.

Week 5 was a light one for teams in the ACC and Big East, but the biggest games of the weekend might have an impact far beyond the teams playing in them. Our Champs Sports Bowl representatives have been on the road up and down the east coast meeting with fans and officials from our partner schools as we prepare for the second bowl season under the current conference pairings that give us the second team from the Big East (first after BCS) and the third team from the ACC (second after BCS).

Here are the big stories from last weekend and our most recent Team Selection Committee meeting:
