After Florida State’s upset bid of No. 1 Clemson fell short, the ‘Noles are projected to come to Orlando by five media members. The media projected just one other ACC team, North Carolina. For the Big 12, Oklahoma State leads the projections with three. Two other Big 12 teams are projected to come to Orlando as well.

A great weekend of college football saw a few shake-ups among ranked ACC and Big 12 teams. Thanks to a 23-13 victory over Florida State, the Clemson Tigers are the new AP No. 1. Another big winner was Oklahoma State, who jumped into the top-5 after beating TCU by 20 in Stillwater. No teams in the Big 12 and ACC fell out of the polls and no new teams entered.

After a quiet week in the polls, five of the media projections for the 2015 Russell Athletic Bowl remained the same. Florida State and North Carolina are the two ACC teams projected to come to Orlando, along with Notre Dame in the ACC bowl slot. The media has four different teams on the Big 12 side projected to play in the City Beautiful.

Miami 30, #22 Duke 27

The Blue Devils (6-2, 3-1 ACC) rallied back from a 12-point deficit, only to lose on a controversial eight-lateral kickoff return by the Hurricanes (5-3, 2-2 ACC) in the closing seconds. Trailing 24-12 with six minutes remaining, QB Thomas Sirk (31-52, 258 yards) capped a 14-play drive with a with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Johnell Barnes. Miami went three-and-out, and Duke mounted a 10 play, 80-yard drive culminating with a 1-yard rush by Sirk for the go-ahead touchdown before the Canes’ highly-scrutinized “miracle” return.

In the latest polls, the big winner was North Carolina. The Tar Heels defeated Pittsburgh last Thursday in a crucial ACC Coastal matchup. The win jumped them into the top-25 and they were just one of two ACC schools to make a move in the latest polls.
