No. 15 Clemson takes its undefeated record on the road this week to face off with fellow-unbeaten No. 10 Virginia Tech in a rare ACC battle of top-15 teams. Thanks to quality wins against Auburn and Florida State, the Tigers continue to climb the polls after beginning the year unranked. The Hokies were pegged as a darkhorse national title contender early on, despite the loss of four-year starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor to graduation.

The past two ACC Atlantic Division champions square off this weekend in a pivotal conference matchup as Clemson welcomes Florida State to Tiger Stadium and Death Valley. The Seminoles and Tigers have split the last 10 games in the series, with the home team winning each of the last four. FSU has not won at Clemson in a decade, but secured a victory in Tallahassee last year when kicker Dustin Hopkins booted a 55-yard field goal as time expired. Quarterback E.J. Manuel got the start for the ‘Noles in place of the injured Christian Ponder and scored his team’s only touchdown in the 16-13 win.

Old foes clash in College Park this week as Maryland plays host to Mid-Atlantic rival West Virginia. The schools, separated by just 200 miles, often battle over recruiting territory and area bragging rights. West Virginia holds a slight edge in the head-to-head matchup, winning the past five contests against the Terrapins. Maryland looks to rebound in the series after a strong performance in week one against ACC opponent Miami.

Lee Corso Entertains Team Selection Committee At Kickoff Dinner

The 2011 Florida Citrus Sports scouting season is in full swing after another successful kickoff dinner at Linda’s La Cantina steakhouse with featured guest FCSports guest Lee Corso. FCSports scouts started the day by reporting to the Varsity Club at Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium and giving their views of the games attended from around the country from the weekend previous and the night was capped for some of the organization’s longstanding members, sponsors and dignitaries at the annual event in east Orlando.
Speaking with Paul Kennedy of Sun Sports and Fox Sports Florida, Corso offered his unique opinions on all sorts of college football topics, from coaches on the hot seat to this year’s Heisman race to his picks for the national championship. The ESPN personality and long-time friend of FCSports took questions from the crowd and fired back with his trademark combination of wit and wisdom. For more details on Corso's comments, check out the official Twitter accounts: @FCSports, @CapitalOneBowl and @ChampsSportsBwl.
Also at the event, members made their picks for the four teams that will play in this December’s bowl games in Orlando. The consensus picks to play in the Capital One Bowl were South Carolina with 57 votes and Nebraska with 31 votes. In the Champs Sports Bowl, attendees predicted South Florida (46 votes) and Clemson (27 votes) as this year's matchup.
Now that two weeks of the 2011 college football season are in the books, early rumblings of BCS and bowl placement have begun. It's shaping up for another great season in Orlando as the Capital One Bowl and Champs Sports Bowl receive four of the top selections in all of college football.

Rutgers at North Carolina is the Champs Sports Bowl Game Of The Week

Week two of the college football season picks up significantly for both Rutgers and North Carolina as the schools face off in a Big East-ACC battle. Both teams opened the 2011 campaign against non-BCS programs and cruised to lopsided victories. UNC is a popular pick for this year’s Champs Sports Bowl after a stunning double-overtime win against Tennessee in last season’s Music City Bowl. Rutgers, returning 17 starters from a year ago, could be a surprise in the Big East.
